First snow of the season/year

Thought i would check in and explain why there hasn't been any thing new in the past three weeks.

these pictures should help explain:

This was the first snow of the season and of the year,it was so bad over 200,000 people lost power and it took days for most of western WA to recover.

On a new note i started a 365 photo challenge! you can see them Here and by clicking on the link in the side bar!

The Port Of Tacoma Welcomed Us Back

We took another trip across the bridge yesterday. We found ourselves a little unprepared however. We didn't have half of our lights and we only had enough battery for about 45 minutes worth of shooting. But we found a great spot that we can revisit probably a thousand times and always get different shots.

It's really nice finding places like these where we can come back again and again. It gives us a chance to get inspired by the landscape and organic architecture. Or even the man made.

It was a very cold night, but we are unhappily getting used to them.

 The night was lovely.

We'll be back Tacoma...

Subliminal Es

I feel like our whole process has become a  big game of trial and error. We think of random ways to make the light move and we try to mix and match all of the techniques we have picked up with all the different areas we travel to and with what they have to offer there. Then we hope for some good shots.

That sculpture is in Baddducky's yard. It's been there forever. It's one of those overlooked objects our eye passes by when we are coming and going but oh so spectacular if we stop to appreciate what it could be. Properties like hers are actually perfect grounds for light painting.

There is even more for us to discover there. All I can think is I can't wait for summer when we can fully explore all our surrounds and do so in much cuter outfits! Right now it is almost easier for us to come up with scenes in our head before even going outside because once we do all we can think about is how we might be getting hypothermia in our toes.

The idea for shooting in this awesome tree was given to us by a good friend with a good blog.  We absolutely love getting ideas and trying them out! And if you want to help us do so please contact us!!

We would love to explore new light ideas with anyone that has some!

Hope You Had A Bright New Year's!!

Happy New Year!! Could be our last? You think? Who knows..
I got to go to work with Kona last night! It was fun ringing in the New Years with her and the awesome kids she watches. Of course we took light pictures with them!

Madison was amazing behind the lens! She was a natural writing backwards and she was so interested in everything we were doing so she was doing great since she was enjoying herself.

It was a great night!  We didn't get a chance to listen to a podcast like we planned but it doesn't mean Shoot to Kill Podcast wasn't on our mind. We practiced some light writing for maybe a new section on the new shop (OMG I know guys, 'bout time huh?) and we used our new podcast loves as practice subjects. Be sure to check them out for great advise on beginning photographers!
